My husband is hard of smelling

“Am I having any of this cake?” My husband asked as the fragrance from the oven came wafting into the living room. The apple cinnamon flavors were filling the house with a delicious warming sensation (which was a good thing since our furnace is out of commission at the moment). And, boy oh boy, was he bummed when the answer was a big, fat, NO.

Upon walking into the kitchen and glancing at the enticingly warm-but-unfrosted cake, he proclaimed “Look at that chocolate cake I can’t have.”
I quickly screeched, “CHOCOLATE!?” I mean, after all, the house smelled like an apple cider brewery (is there such a thing? I don’t know, but it certainly smelled like one).
So although the husband’s disappointment about not partaking in the eating of cake were assuaged by the knowledge that this was an apple cake and not a chocolate one, I have begun to believe my husband is hard of smelling.
