Cranberry Orange Steel Cut Oats
I’ve got an addiction to oatmeal. You can ask my close friends; they’ll confirm. You can even as my mother-in-law – she’ll confirm that I travel with oats. Go ahead, ask my daddy, a man who has given me oatmeal for my birthday two years in a row now. The addiction started in 2005. There is no support group. No one is trying to cure me, though.
If I have to be addicted to something, oatmeal isn’t a bad thing. This bowl of oatmeal goes out to Jey at The Jey of Cooking. Jey started an event to fight heart disease shortly after seeing my Souper Bowl Events. Jey’s mother is in need of a heart transplant. By blogging, Jey is collecting donations to help the cause.
Jey asked us to make a heart healthy dish for her event. This meal is made from heart healthy steel cut oats. It is made interesting with orange zest and a dose of cranberries. It takes awhile to make (more than your average microwavable bowl of oats) but go ahead and do it because the leftovers are delicious.
